Memories in the Making: Blue Bird by Corinne
Memories in the Making is an Alzheimer’s Association art therapy program for individuals with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Volunteer facilitators help people with dementia – many of whom often have no art background – create drawings and paintings. These sessions provide participants social interaction and boost their self-esteem while opening the channels of communication with loved ones.
Today’s featured Memories in the Making artist is Corinne. Corinne was born and raised in Stamford, Connecticut where she grew up sailing her one-person skiff on the nearby Long Island Sound. In high school, Corinne was inspired to go to Pratt Fine Art Center in New York City by her accomplished art teacher. She then worked as a commercial artist. Corinne has two adult children–her son lives in Singapore, and her daughter is close by in the Bay Area. She looks forward to the days she paints in the Memories in the Making group offered at Pacific Senior Living.
Corinne’s painting is just one of the many works of art that will be auctioned off at our annual Memories in the Making Art & Wine Auction, held this year on March 13th at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View. In addition to work by Memories in the Making artists, the silent and live auction selection will include fine wines, unique experiences and luxury items.
